Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2019 will kick off in Shenzhen, China, today. This year’s event will be the largest in history. There are 10 men’s teams, including Nigeria making its debut in this event. On the women’s side, there are 8 teams, including the newly-formed Chinese Taipei women’s team. Chinese Taipei’s last appearance in the women’s competition was in 2006.
Round-robin games will start on November 2nd. The top 4 teams will advance to the playoff. For the men’s, the gold medalist qualifies for the World Men’s Curling Championship 2020, and the silver and bronze medalists can participate in the World Qualification Event 2020 in January. For the women’s, the top 2 teams qualify for the World Women’s Curling Championship 2020, and the 3rd and 4th place teams can participate in the World Qualification Event.
There will be 8 teams in the World Qualification Event 2020, including 2 teams from the Pacific-Asia zone, 4 teams from the European zone, 1 team from the American zone, and the host Finland. The top 2 teams from the World Qualification Event qualifies for the Worlds.
